Anyway of testing signal strength while viewing? (1 Viewer)

Hi, this there a program that I can run to show signal strength while I adjust the antenna(on the roof).

Some of my digital channels pixelize, a digital coaxal booster fixes this but I'm hoping that a simple antenna adjustment would fix this.

Since the channels only pixelize sometimes it would be difficult to adjust the antenna and know that Ive done a improvement.

If you were accessing satellite then you could try FastSatFinder. I'm not sure if there is any equivalent for DVB-T, ATSC, QAM or DVB-C. If the channels are working in MediaPortal then you could use the "tuning details" link in the actions menu to view the statistics - I'm not sure if that would be convenient for you...

Why not using mp server and running it in "manual mode"? Thats what Im using

+1 Use Manual Control Mode and select the station you want to tune and pick Timeshift. It will tune the station and display the signal strength/quality bars in realtime. This is an excellent tool for fine-tuning the antenna's direction - the only shortcoming of this is you've got to be "in the ballpark" close to even tune a station in the first place!

The figures quoted there are what is reported back from the card and are often rubbish. Different cards will report different numbers. An old card I had would actually report a higher signal strength when I unplugged the aerial...

Basically these figures might give you an idea but should not be taken as definitive

Hmmm,

Note that the time between signal updates with TV Server is at least 5 seconds so you'll have to test very slowly. I do it with a set top box and small TV that I take up onto the roof...

I also experience signal loss once in a while on my DVB-C on some channels.

Will be a nice feature, if users could display signal strength on the fly from within Mediaportal.

Just by pressing a remote button.

Mediaportal should also display a "bad signal" box, if signal fall blow a certain level.

You can!
Use the actions menu and click on "tuning details". Wiki information here and here.

As I said above: the updates occur *at most* once every 5 seconds...
