I'm using the AOpen EA65 Barebone for MP and I wonder if any other user has tried to get its native remote to work. What remote/driver do I have to select in Setup to accomplish this?

Also, the case has an inbuilt liquid crystal display which can be used to display any customised information. I think it would be nice to have MP display some status info (like MP3 title etc.) on it, but don't know how either. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

I'm also using the EA65 - no problem on the remote, I got it to work after just five minutes' configuring in Girder (www.promixis.com) although I've heard rumours that you can get the remote natively supported in MP, I have no idea if this is true, or how it would be achieved...

The VFD display is a bit more of a mystery - there are a couple of plugins that sound promising, which you can read about in these posts:
https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/viewtopic.php?t=5674

but so far I've had no luck interpreting how or if I can get the EA65's display to work with them - if anyone else out there knows, please help!

Somewhere amongst the junk on my hard drive, I've got an SDK for the display, downloaded from AOpen's support forums, but I haven't had a chance to play with it - the plan being to write my own plugin if it turned out to be the only solution!

Thanks for your input, Elf.

Nice to hear the remote works with Girder. I once tried the free version (was it 3.2.9?), but with no success as I am not quite familiar with that tool. What Girder plugin did you use for the AOpen remote? And did you have to specify parameters like COM Port etc.? If so, I'd be grateful for some hints.

I had seen the threads about the VFD plugins before, but it all seems confusing and I don't have a lot of spare time either for getting those things sorted out on my own. I thought perhaps someone had a running config already and would be willing to share it... :)
I also got the AOpen SDK, but that stuff sounds like Chinese to me... Guess I won't become a programmer any time soon, I'm more of the user type... :?

To be honest I don't remember much about my Girder configuration - when I get home I'll have a proper look at it and post some more detail! I might be able to send you the GML file if that would help.

What I do vaguely remember is that the EA65 remote was listed - I think I just selected it and mapped the keys to keyboard events.

That sounds as if you used a newer Girder version than me. I had to load the correct Girder plugin manually, there were different ones like Igor, Serial etc.

Yet, if you could find out anything I'd be grateful for any help concerning Girder. Thanks in advance!

Hello everybody,

I am using the EA65 remote control in MP "out of the box", no girder etc. needed. However the MFD display is not supported.

Here are the settings:

Use SerialUIR as remote.
Com 2
9600Bd
Handshake: none
Parity: none
IR code length: 5
delay between commands: 300 ms
learning timeout: 5 seconds

Now start learning the commands you need/want one by one.....
The on/off button is supported by the EA65 bios, so that one always works, even to switch the machine on!!

Make sure the com2 is available for MP and not attached to another application.

Have fun!
