with the new TV engine (TV v3) you can record multiple streams (mux's) in the signal. Digital television allows stations to transmit multiple different programs on the one frequency. MP can record any number of streams on that channel at the same time.

Therefore, if you have two DTV cards you can record four pograms at once. Three on the same Mux and one on the other (you could record more on the second if you wanted to).

i didnt know about that !! thanks !!

i guess i will have to wait till i have my own tv tuner to test it. so its as simple as pressing record and it will do it if they are in the same mux? or is there config to be done?

can you recommend any other dual dvb-t? im trying to see if there is any tuner that most people use.

most australians will recommend this company: http://www.digitalnow.com.au/
But I don't know how these will work out of the country.
For all australians, the idea of dual DTV AND dual Analog TV plus AV input in a PCIe card for only AU$149 is too hard to pass up.
(yeah, I know I sound like a commercial)

And yeah, the mux thing will work straight away. MP will work out the details for you.

I have a T500, i get around the standby issue by using PVRScheduler, so that not a problem (Also worked fine with Vista Ultimates MCE).

Pinnacle also do a dual digital that is PCI, not usb based, not sure of the reception qualities though.

Yes Terratec mainly has good reviews, advantages using pci-e over pci very few, unless your box is stuffed full of pci devices.

hi, i see that you are also using tvserver. as this is also my objective then your comments are important on the T500.

therefore is not such a disadvantage that this card is usb converted into pci?????

i will be using XP, have you solved the issue with xp also, cause i see in your specs u use vista?

    :D

    Hi!

Simply put, a mux is a collection of DVB-T channels using the same frequency to transmit. I can see you're from Sweden so say you are in Stockholm. There are 6 muxes at Stockholm/Nacka, see http://www.teracom.se/?page=5882. Each mux contains several channels. One mux pretty much has all the SVT channels, another TV4 channels, etc.

HDTV, like SVT-HD use a lot more space in the mux so you can not have as many of these as regular SDTV channels. SVT-HD has its own mux, together with TV Finland.

When you set your tuner to a give frequency you can view/record several of the channels on the same mux/frequency. If you want to view one channel and record another and they are not on the same mux, then you need two TV-cards, or a dual-tuner card like T500 or 2400i.

    Hope this helps!

    /Peter

PVRScheduler is a external service from Mediaportal, similar to TVServer, it just connects for Data on scheduled recordings to MP via a plugin (installed on setup, remember to select), this is a paid for utility requiring a donation of 5 euro's (or more) to supports STSC development and web costs, which i consider very reasonable as neither versions of MP's own Powerscheduler have ever worked correctly with this card.

i think i understand it now, thanks.

so does mediaportal recognize if a channel is in the same mux and lets you watch it or record it? so for example if you say to mp to record something on two different channels with DIFFERENT mux it will not let you, but if the mux is the same , it will let you?

i guess same question as above, but in viewing a channel?
