Ok.. I have a server in my Garage with 1.5 TB of movies, tv etc..

I recently decided that the girls need access to this in their rooms. I had two old HP Vectras. I bought them both a GeForce FX 5200 and fired them up. When I first used Windows MCE, the desktop worked fine, but when I opened Media Center, all I got was a box of artefacts.

Figured the machine was not going to cope with MCE, and having played with Media Portal a long time ago, I installed XP Pro Performance and installed Media Portal. Media Portal starts fine however the text on the screen is scrambled. When I guess what each one says and start a movie, the movie plays in flickering shades of pink and green.

I thought that the boxes were to old, but I can play the movies off the network using VLC and Media Player and they display perfect, so the issue is somewhere in Media portal. It is also important to note that all I want them to do is playback, no recording or anything more than play a movie, music and pictures.

Can someone , a lot smarter than me, please help with the configuration of this thing before I toss them in the tip.

Cheers

Try going back to a much older driver either 8xxx or 9xxx serious, there is definately a driver issue you have there.

No luck so far but as type of progress report....

There is a further list of drivers that I have tried, but did not try different resolutions and refreshes etc, so I will go back and test them again.

Hi another suggestion i remember was dropping the agp speed down in the bios, pink green really is a common problem with older machines graphics.

I read that elsewhere in here, but couldn't find anything in the Bios to let me do that.

I even updated the Bios to see if I could get that functionality, but still nothing.

I'll go back and look again... Cheers
