ASIO Support (1 Viewer)

What is the bennefits of having ASIO ? and what does it do xactly ?

I have Realtek onboard soundcard on my notebook, and there is alot of scratchy noises, and it does not support ASIO, well the plugins will not allow me to use them anyway, so thinking of getting an PCMCIA Soundblaster 7.1 (that supports ASIO).

Bit-perfect playback for audioholics =)
Also it removes almost all delay which is great for people working with sound(Read: DJ's)
The sound files sound exactly the way they where made to sound. No conversion whatsoever, its just passed trough your sound card to your receiver. If you want more in-depth info I'm sure there are lots of people on this board who knows a lot more about this then me.
