Hi.
I've got a problem when watching TV. if I start watching tv on let's say a channel with 4:3, the stream stays that way. If i change the channel to a 16:9-stream it isn't recognized. Also, when the stream on one channel switches from 4:3 to 16:9 or vice-versa this change isn't recognized. I asume that this is codec-problem.
If i stop and start the TV in mediaportal, the stream is recognized correctly. But as I said, changes aren't recognized. Can somebody help me with this?

Zoom mode needs to be set at normal to start with, working fine here using powerdvd8's\Microsoft mpeg video codec.

MPV codec has a weakness in recognising correct aspect ratios, not sure if that may be the issue, as you have it listed as being used.

So maybe it's the MPV-Codec.
Powerdvd is not looking very good when decoding Mpeg2. Whats this Microsoft Codec you are using? Have you got a link for me?

Comes with Vista Home\Ultimate, very good, but no hardware acceleration.

Strange about PDVD giving you a bad picture, mines incredibly sharp and clear (both VMR9 and EVR), maybe see if you can get the older Nvidia Purevideo codec, that has HW support but has not been updated for over 12 months, certain setups from users have been reporting better quality video playback.

Actually it does have HW acceleration support

If PDVD codecs produce bad quality then most likely HW acceleration is not used.

Hmmm.
For HDTV-material PDVD is quite good actually. But for SDTV it's crappy. It could be a matter of tweaking. But since -except for the aspect ratio- mpv was good I stopped trying with PDVD.
Pure video isn't looking good as well. Also, with my graphiccard, hardware acc. is not supported.

Any alternative codec for watching SDTV-Mpeg2 ts?
Perhaps this one: Etymonix SoftReel MPEG-2 Video Decoder Filter?
