Asus has made many popular mobos for HTPC - but there are very many ppl who can not get the SPDIF working (due to the control panel?).

A friend of mine has this mobo (rec. by me, unfortunatly): M2NPV-VM
... and can not get the SPDIF working (using bracket).

Anybody who has got any kind of this combo working - and if so: HOW???

    Asus SPIDF issues

I have built a mate of mine a HTPC using that same board, which is running like a dream. I have installed the latest drivers and BIOS from the Asus website. All he had to do is plug in his SPIDF and it worked. Other areas to check are the Device Manager to be sure the drivers are installed correctly (Requires Hotfix), and that SPIDF is enabled in the BIOS.

On another note MediaPortal is infectious, keep up the good work

Same here, same mobo. Plug and play. You have to make sure though you have not disabled digital output in windows or soundmax mixer. You also have to configure audio decoder filter to use SPDIF-interface if external decoder used. Nothing unusual about it. Check the connection on SPDIF-module.

In my case, as I need no toslink, I'm not actually using the bracket. I'm just running my own RCA-wire from mobo's 2 SPDIF pins.
