Hi Phil. I recently resolved this issue, having the same symptoms you describe, for myself by changing the ATI HDTV WONDER (Analogue) entry in 'CaptureCardDefinitions.xml' to the following...
The origional post I responded to with this finding can be refered to here, if you want a little more detail... https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/showthread.php?t=11890
I failed to mention in that post that I'm also using the 'CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (ATI)' video codec, and the 'CyberLink Audio Decoder (ATI)' audio codec. With 'Default DirectSound Device' as the audio renderer.
This setup allows me to recieve both audio and video during scanning and in media portal.
Now the main problem seems to be, when switiching between analog and HDTV channels the Analog side of my card is not deinited and reinited properly.
I'm curious if the above settings and config work for you too.
Code:
<capturecard commercialname="ATI HDTV Wonder (Analogue)" capturename="ATI DTV Wonder Analog AV Capture" devid="ven_14F1&dev_8800&subsys_a1011002&a mp;rev_05">
<capabilities tv="true" radio="false" mpeg2="true" mce="false" sw="false" bda="false"/>
<tv>
<interface cat="mux" video="" audio="" mpeg2="0"/>
<filters>
<filter cat="tvtuner" name="ATI DTV Wonder Analog TV Tuner" checkdevice="true"/>
<filter cat="tvaudio" name="ATI DTV Wonder Analog TV Audio" checkdevice="true"/>
