ATI HDTV Wonder - No Signal (1 Viewer)

Hi Phil. I recently resolved this issue, having the same symptoms you describe, for myself by changing the ATI HDTV WONDER (Analogue) entry in 'CaptureCardDefinitions.xml' to the following...

I failed to mention in that post that I'm also using the 'CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (ATI)' video codec, and the 'CyberLink Audio Decoder (ATI)' audio codec. With 'Default DirectSound Device' as the audio renderer.

This setup allows me to recieve both audio and video during scanning and in media portal.

Now the main problem seems to be, when switiching between analog and HDTV channels the Analog side of my card is not deinited and reinited properly.

I'm curious if the above settings and config work for you too.

Thankyou very much ibanks, that definetly helped me out. It hasnt completly made my card useable though.

I made the changes you posted to my CaptureCardDefinitions.xml and now the analogue side of my card works perfectly in Configure - it auto-tunes and displays both audio and video for all the channels detected.

However, now Im encountering another strange problem. Once in Media Portal, I cant actually change the channel. The program seems to think it is changing the channel , and displays the correct programing information for the channel I change it to, but only ever displays the audio and video for one channel (channel 2 - the first chanel detected in auto-tune) regardless of what I select. When Im in Config, If I click on a different channel in autotune, it does correctly display the relevant audio/video.

Have you ever encountered this problem before?

Hi Phil-1,

I would have replied sooner, but just returned from a week of vacation.

To answer your question, no I haven't seen this same problem as you've described. I have another perhaps related problem in it's stead.

Once I've completed a scan, and enter MP proper. I am able to recieve all analog channels, and changing between analog channels works.

I am also able to recieve all digital channels, and changing between digitial channels works.

Here's where I get into trouble. If I change channels from an analog one to a digital one, it works, once. The digital reciever side of the card will initialize (albiet a touch slow) and function as normal. If I change amongst digital channels it's okay, but when I go to change back to the analog tuner side all I get is a blue screen and audio static.

The reason, I suspect, is that MP does not deinitialize\release the analog side of the ATI HDTV Wonder from the first time it uses it. Therefore the HAL and or MDM believe the analog card is still busy when it is again called later. I would think that this would be true of the digital side too, but suspect that the Microsoft BDA driver used on the digital side, may include some subawareness that handles init\denit logic automatically of it's own accord. Outside of MP's codebase.

I haven't looked closer at my problem since before vacating. Maybe I'll learn more about it soon.

As for your stuck channel thing... With the limited description of the symptoms, I'm not able to predicate a root cause. My first questions would be how are your channel listings and epg arranged? Are they in sync?

In Media Portal Configuration, under 'project'-->'TV Channels'--><TAB>'TV Cards' make sure all of your analog channels are assigned to the analog side of your card and only to the analog side. Also all digital to the digital side and only the digital side.

That may help.
