atsc tuner showing up as dvb-T (2 Viewers)

Hello, I have a pinnacle 800e atsc tuner. When I go into tv server setup it shows my tuner as a dvb-T tuner, and I can't figure out why or how to resolve this.

well I guess anything is possible but the drivers I have installed have the pinnacle pctv 800e as a supported device. It's the same drivers I have used on a previous pc to get the same tuner to work great with mediaportal. Since my last post I have uninstalled the tuners drivers, reinstalled them, uninstalled mediaportal and tv server, tryed older version of mediaportal which was the version that has worked previously for me (which also didnt work) tryed reinstalling the newest version again, still nothing. the pc specifications I had listed in my previous post were for a laptop that did in fact work with my tuner and mediaportal, however the pc I am using new which isnt working is as follows
Thinkpad T30
usb 1.1
30mb ATI video
2.0 ghz P3 cpu
512mb ram
windows XP

I will attach my tv server logs and hopefully that will help, but im starting to think its this laptop and possibly the usb 1.1 that is causing my issues.
any replys would be appreciated, thanks

Hi again

It would be odd for USB 1.1 to be the problem, but I guess anything is possible. I can't verify what driver versions you were using from the logs, but the device names are similar.

Note that if tv.log is the log from the current PC then it appears like the tuner is not being detected at all. Make sure you use BDA drivers, because the WDM ones may not be supported.

I'm not convinced USB 1.1 wouldn't be an issue... it's a 12 Mbps interface whereas USB 2.0 is 480 Mbps and ATSC says: the MPEG-2 video stream must fit inside a transport stream, with overhead, sent out at 19.3927... Mbit/s for broadcast. So it wouldn't surprise me at all if it's the USB port being saturated and (possibly) even causing the tuner to be seen as something it's not (dvb-T).

For sure: USB 1.x would not be appropriate for passing a whole transponder/mux of channels like TV Server usually does. PID filtering could reduce the required bandwidth drastically... to the order of the actual channel bandwidth, which depends on encoding, resolution etc. Device recognition is a different story in my book though. Perhaps you are right and the tuner USB interface chipset has backward compatibility issues...

Easiest way of checking, is install the manufactures software, if that does not work, then I would say it is the usb.

Would even go further and say the whole system you are trying to run on is very low spec for tv.
