The newer Realtek HD Audio drivers include extensive capabilities to manage input/output channel mappings, such as splitting stereo to 5.1 (in my case actually 4.1) audio, which I used to configure in MP (e.g. Codecs and Renderer / MPC-MPA Decoder). Am I better off configuring this in MP (where it may need to be configured in more than one place), or in the Realtek utility (which presumably takes care of everything)? Am I correct in assuming that it's a bad idea to do both?
