    Hi all,

I am talking to someone on AVForums who is blind, and wants to use an HTPC for live TV with Audio Description. (https://www.avforums.com/threads/dual-freeview-tuner-that-supports-audio-description.1967216/)

He seems to have two issues, one is just a problem with MediaPortal and the other is an issue suffered by all HTPC software.

    1) The problem with MediaPortal for him, is the software that he uses to navigate round the systems does not work with his software which provides audio support to the screen. Does anyone know anything about this, and how this might be improved for MP users?

    2) In the UK, the Audio Description is on a separate audio channel on the TS, but this channel doesn't have both the AD and the background track, it just has the AD by itself. Is it possible to get MP to play both audio channels simultaneously? Clearly this would be a feature request, but it would be great if this could be supported.

    Thanks

Tony is right about terrestrial needing to mix AD in versus satellite having two full tracks. Based on to OP's requirements (PVR and VoD in one device, no mention of local media) I'd actually recommend a YouView box. They have twin tuner PVRs, all the main free VoD providers (they're shareholders until at least 2019) plus UKTV and Quest, consistent interface between boxes and many cheap ex-sub boxes available on eBay (avoid the Huaweis) or possibly free from the ISP. Accessibility is one of The BBC Trust's conditions for the BBC's involvement so YouView have been working with the RNIB to add features.
