Audio dropping out on some channels (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I have a strange issue that has persisted throughout recent SVNs.

When I go to Channel4 or Five from any other channel, the audio drops out and stays dropped out when tuning to any other channel.

The only way to get audio back is to stop TV and start TV again.

Tuning directly to these channels (as in with TV not playing) does not have the same issue, audio works fine.

Logs attached on: Started MP, went to guide, selected BBC1, changed to Channnel4 (no audio) changed back to BBC1 (still no audio), Home, Stop, exit MP.

Any ideas?

By way of a bump:

Now with current svn, I still have this issue.

Could someone who knows about these things please have a look at my logs?

2 clients do not share this problem, just my server in single seat mode.

This is not a fatal problem but it is a pain in the bum (although not having to listen to Rex in Big Brother is appealing I will admit!).

Hi Chris

See you changed codec, so that has got rid of any problem there, this is a toughie as no other uk reports on this one.

If you delete those afflicted channels and then save to config, then reopen config and scan a new, does the problem still exist.

Are there any driver updates for the Cinergy (17th March 2008 latest), are you using those.

You may need to delete your TV database if using new drivers, otherwise you may end up with multiple tuners and errors.

Thanks for the ideas.

Driver is this version, I only recently rebuilt this machine so everything is fairly up to date.

Deleting the channels made no difference, on re-scanning, the same issue existed.

I have had problems in the past with the channel 4 stations, but this was down to a badly connected cable, now replaced. At the time, the log showed a low signal, I don't see that this time around.

Is this something to do with my error (in ~TSWriter.log)?

Could this be about an incorrect audio stream (eg an empty or faux one) somehow being selected?

After the issue occuring, switching between audio streams does not fix it, only turning playback off then going straight to the afflicted channel fixes it.

I may try placing the other TV card at the top of priority and seeing if this one gives the error. This won't fix it but could elliminate any driver/card related issues. Will edit to report back.

EDIT:
Oh, completely blank screen and no audio on any channel with the other card. More problems!

Obviously I COULD reinstall and start again, but I would like to get to the bottom of this without if possible.

I'd say that it started 2 or 3 SVNs back (so no), suppose it may not be anything to do with the SVNs though.

I just re-installed MP and drivers for cards. Completely new DB, but I still have the issue. I wish I had tried it now before installing the SVN this time around, but I didn't.

Funny that my Hauppauge card has stopped working now though. It was definately working last week! Very different issue though...

The only change to the system is the addition of a SATA pci-e x1 card for my new sytem drive (which had windows cloned on to it using Linux Live CD 'DD' method). I think the issue started after this but not straight away.

I have a TechnoTrend S2 card coming soon so will do some re-arranging and re-seating of cards then to see if that may be the problem when it arrives.

EDIT:
I have just removed and re-seated all of my cards. Found a leak in my water cooling (oops) and fixed that. The back of the Cinergy card was um... wet Fortunately this does not seem to have harmed it.

After re-seating, I have my Hauppauge card working and can confirm that this is not simply a driver error as both cards are experiencing the issue with audio on the Channel 4 provided channels.

It is now 1:43 AM and I am going to bed.
