Audio sync issues over 3.5mm out (1 Viewer)

Hi all,

Have been using Mediaportal for several years with no issues. My HTPC is connected via a HDMI cable to my TV, and as I have never been much of an audio person, have been quite happy with this setup.

I have now been given a set of 2.1 Acoustic Energy Aego speakers. I plugged them into the soundcard and thought everything would be the same, just nicer sound. Changed over to default directsound out in Mediaportal config and off I go.

How wrong I was. Have spent the last few days trying to get the sound to sync up properly to no avail. Tried several combinations of codecs all with the same results - the audio is constantly dropping out of sync every few minutes. It then re-syncs for a bit, then repeats. This is happening with HD and SD stuff.

As soon as I switch back to HDMI out in the mediaportal config, everything is fine. My TV is set to 24p, but changing the refresh rate doesn't help either.

Just want to know if I am missing something really obvious when connecting up speakers over a 3.5mm jack, because it feels like I have tried everything right now.

Thanks all :)

It should work just fine (I use analogue audio all the time).

Some system specs etc would be useful....

    A few suggestions:

    1. Plug the speakers into the TV and run sound over HDMI as before - if the TV doesn't have phono or 3.5mm jack audio outputs, it probably has sound output on one of the SCART connectors - you just need to get a SCART to phono (output) adaptor.

    2. Check the settings for the sound device carefully e.g. preferred sampling rate etc
