    Hi!

As of today MP has new process plugin "AudioScrobbler".

    Steps to use it:
    1. sign up here: https://www.last.fm/join/
(< 1 minute, for free, you need not even supply an email address)
    2. fire up configuration.exe, enable the plugin
    3. Enter your Username and Password from Step 1 into its config
    4. Launch MediaPortal and play a song.

    That's it!

If you do not skip your current song (which could mean you didn't like it) it gets added to the "Journal" of your personal last.fm page.

After playing some tracks launch your favorite browser and point it to http://www.last.fm/user/<YOUR_username_from_step1_here>/

You'll see a list of the tracks recently played back.
Using this daily you'll quickly get interesting stats of your music habits. Now last.fm does some database magic to find out people who like similar music - your neighbours.

You may use this information to find new bands / songs you haven't heard of until now but you'll like for sure! 8)

Additionally last.fm provides an internet radio stream containing music similar to your profile.

At last and maybe most important:
We will add a feature to MyMusic which will automatically populate a playlist based on your current mood!
    Example:
You add 4 or 5 tracks of jazz music to an empty playlist although you usually prefer metal.
After e.g. 3 tracks MediaPortal begins "asking" last.fm what other tracks would match up nicely with the jazz tracks. Now the response is filtered for tracks you currently have in your music collection and the best 3 matches are automatically added to your playlist!

    You don't believe this works?
Well I am using http://amarok.kde.org/ for quite some time now and believe me - this feature is awesome :p

P.S. Please also join the MediaPortal Users group! We'll get pretty funny stats of the global music taste of MediaPortal users then.

Great stuff, rtv! I was actual thinking of making a plugin like this before I jumped on MyLyrics. I'm testing it right now, and it works great! cheers

will there be some kind of last.fm radio station support in the future as well?

just tried it the first time and i really like it...

would be cool to have a plugin that is able to play the radio stations and displays the info about the current playing song

do i need to install that program

The songs are cached into the audioscrobbler-cache.txt
There is an extra low priority thread which checks the file for contents and submits them then.

Atm you can follow this process 100% via the MediaPortal2.log

You do not need to install anything.
If you want to listen to your "neighbour's radio stream" without waiting for a MediaPortal plugin you can download their free tool to do so easily
