I have a more general question I was hoping someone could help with or at least let me know I can't do what I want to do.

I have a Non Digital Foxtel STU Box. It has two SCART connections and two Co-ax connections on the back and is currently connected to the TV with a SCART > RCA cable. The quality on the TV is fine.

I want to setup MediaPortal so I can go into the front end select TV... And See all the Foxtel channels to browse/watch and record etc with all it's EPG data.
I would also like it all to be done with the Microsoft Remote that is compatible with MediaPortal.

My TV Card has an Antenna Input and a SVideo Type Connection with an External Adapter for RCA
So here is the problem and here is what I have tried so far...
MediaPortal sees my Hybrid TV Card fine and picks up the Analog and Digital Part. I have seperated the two into groups as per the wiki so it doesn't get confused.
I have connected an external Antenna and TV Scanned the digital part and it picks up all the local stations fine and plays them with really good quality. I can see all the channels on the front end and get the EPG data.

Now When I connect my foxtel Scart > RCA to the RCA > SVIdeo Type Connection card and try to Scan for channels on the Analog part of the Card it doesn't find any channels at all.
So I did a lot of reading and decided to try adding my own Analog Channel (doesn't matter what channel number I gave it) and just assigned it to CVBS #1. If I now preview that channel I can see the Foxtel output (albeit its a really poor picture if you stretch the window open further the quality just gets worse and its not watchable full screen).
When I'm on this channel and I use the Foxtel remote to change the channel etc there is a noticable 10 second lag between pressing the button and it changing on screen.

So my questions and HOPE!!!! someone can help is

1. Im guessing MediaPortal isn't going to be able to scan every Foxtel Channel coming through the Analog connection so is there something I can do to make the picture I have better and more responsive?

2. And If I can do that.. Is it Possible to somehow manually setup all the Foxtel EPG Data in the TV Channels section and have MediaPortal send a request to the Foxtel box to change the channel?

Any help here would be great even if it is that I'm just wasting my time doing all of this

What you're asking about (having one channel for each Foxtel channel in MP) can be done, however it is not particularly straightforward. You need to add all the channels in the Foxtel box to MP, and then set up a blaster that signals the Foxtel box to switch to the right channel when you change channels in MP. Regarding EPG info: once you have channels set up in MP it should be relatively straightforward to get EPG. I believe IceTV offer guide data for Foxtel. Could be wrong though. Another alternative would be the EPG Collector, but you'd need a satellite tuner.

i've already got the xmltv file, i'm grabbing it with shepherd and am currently using it with windows 7 media center and it's working well with the blaster etc !!

i guess my question is, how to i add the xmltv file to MP and map the channels ?
