I wanted to start streaming externally to my phone while away from home....

Once I opened up the right port I can access the WebMediaPortal site just fine and managed to stream some recorded and even live tv to my phone.

I then thought it would be prudent to activate the authentication in MPExtend and setup a specific username. I stopped and started the MPExtend service and the WebMediaPortal site still worked fine although all streaming seems to have broken...

Getting a combination of file not found or access denied.

Do I need to populate the new username and password somewhere in WebMediaPortal?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Went to Settings on the WebMediaPortal site and configured the service URLs to include the credentials... Didn't change much....

Rebooted the machine and now the live TV and recorded tv streaming works again but not tv shows etc....

Might have to check that this was working in the first place though!

I'd really need your logs to say something about this.

Sure think Oxan will see if I can dig some up, can you confirm that it is essential to populate the credentials in the service URLs?

The credentials in the service URLs aren't used if you point it to localhost; and certainly aren't related to streaming problems.
