Auto Conversion (1 Viewer)

Hi Guys,

I currently use Handbrake to convert from recorded TV .ts files to .mkv or .m4v in order to reduce the file size. I currently do this manually by closing MP and then opening Handbrake.

Is it possible to do this recorded file conversion automatically, for example, when a show has finished recording?

MCEBuddy is the best to use for this kind of thing, check it out, do you really want every recording kept, know I don't.

Also bear in mind that encoding the videos actually costs. If your processor is running at full power, > 60W for a couple of hours, it will make a difference to your electricity bill. On the other hand, even after the recent price increases, hard disks are relatively cheap. If you are recording so much that you need to compress it, are you ever going to get round to watching it?

Boy do I know that feeling, got at least 200+ recordings unwatched.

Thanks for the recommendations guys. I'll give MCE Buddy a go.

I have been trying to get my recorded TV Series and recorded movies converted to a more more space efficient format.

Also, the GF travels around the country a lot and tends to fly or use the train. If the movie collection is in a format that is compatible with her iPod it makes it easier for her to transfer movies over so she can watch when on the train. If they are not in an MP4 format then it seems iTunes will not pick them up and put them in the 'Films' library.

I'm not really that fussed about paying for a bit more electricity - I'll just have to drink less beer.

EDIT: Does Comskip work on MCE Buddy?

An alternative to MCE Buddy can be found >>>HERE<<<

This seems to do the same and works in the background monitoring your recordings folder for any new files.

I haven't tried it yet as I'm just giving MCE Buddy a go.
