Auto merge is intermittent, with consistent file name format. (1 Viewer)

My multipart movies are all named as, Filename (YEAR) -1, Filename (YEAR) -2 etc. For a few movies Moving Pictures will correctly merge the parts, but for the majority they are not. For those not auto merged a couple have the first and second part matched to an online title, but most have the first part matched and the second part as a separate movie unmatched during the online lookup.

The last version of Moving Pictures I was using was with MP1.0 and this problem was not so much of an issue as the second part would still play, but with the current version with MP1.1 the second part no longer plays unless the files are merged.

Seems strange that a few are treated correctly, especially considering the simple logical naming convention and the right most characters only ever being a hypen followed by a single digit.

Any help would be great.

Well if you can provide a list of filenames that are not auto merging we can look into improving the system for a future release.

In the short term though I would just manually merge the files in the importer (just select both files and click the little green merging arrow button). If the files are already imported just send them back to the importer from the Movie Manager.

Thamks. No point in listing hundreds of filenames, so will just pick a few and see if anything is obvious. Probably won't have time for a day or three to get them up.

Could part of the problem be the filename cleanup string? Or is that post the merge process?
How is Moving Pictures filtering the hypen and single digit to get a few correct? Is there a list of strings used for the auto merge posted somewhere?

The merging is done on the exact filename, the cleanup performed to lookup the movie title is done later. If you can provide us with a debug log of an import where these movies are not merged correctly it will probably show the cause.
