New version 0.0.1.0 released

This version addresses the issue of duplicate channel names as described by robyf. It actually turned out to be worse than I thaught and I realized that I also had many duplicate channel names on my system.

Checking and processing duplicate channel names addresses the problem that in Media Portal identical names can be used for channels with different tuning parameters and content. This can cause the issue that during import the group, program or recording assignments, which are being based on the channel name, are getting an incorrect channel. The plugin fixes this by renaming the Media Portal display channel name and applying an automatic renaming operation. If two channels have the same name, then the Media Portal display name is being changed into <name>_1 for the first duplicate channel, <name>_2 for the second one and so on. This ensures that during rescanning the TV card will not create another copy of the same channel. The default setting is tuned to apply an automatic renaming operation at each export if duplicate channel names do exist. If you do not want to do that you need to remove the check box “Automated Processing During Export”.

This version is not compatible with previous versions for importing data, so please make a new export with this version. If you ever should have the need to restore data from an older plugin version export, please keep in mind that the TV server plugins are also restored and you can use the backupsetting.dll from your backup folder in TV_Program\Plugins.

With this version all issues discussed in this thread before are now closed to my understanding.
If you find any new issues please post a tv server log file.

    Huha,

    great work !!

    I have two suggestions :
    - Permit to backup multiple clients in a multiseat configuration
    - Permit to restore a client's backup to other clients (can help to replicate a configuration change to all the clients)

    Thanks !

romadd64, I think you can do this already with the current version and you have two options:
    - you can backup your clients sequentially and store the data to a different backup folder. For restoring data you can sequentially load the data from the same backup folder and restore the clients by changing the name of the host computer after each operation
    - alternatively you can modify the BackupSetting scripts I published on page 5 and obtain an automated operation for all your clients.

    Huha,

awsome work, thank you and it works fine for me.

one little thing would be great to add. stored EPG data. Maybe I've forgot to tick a box during export(import). I'm not at my home machine right now. But I think I havn't seen that feature.

ichessblumen, EPG data are always being exported.
The default setting for EPG data is disabled, because it takes a long time to restore (20 minutes for me). If you want to do that you need to check in the TV server filter settings the EPG box on the 2nd tab.

Al_Capone, I thaught testers may be interested in completely restoring all the data for another installation. But i got surprised by the time it takes. I agree that in most cases it will not be needed. If users are complaining about the export data I will make EPG data also optional for the export.

huha: - sure, it's nice it it's there (I did not knew), whatever pleases the crowd ...
I just think of first EPG fetch as a "test" , I rather discover a potential EPG problem right away, than wait 7 days after an upgrade.

-Thanks to the software, it makes upgrading fun, not a job like it was before.

Swede, can you post a log file during exporting the TV settings? What was the start date and the time for the scheduled recordings? Please check the TV server configuration in section TV schedules. Are your scheduled recordings listed here? How many scheduled recordings do you have here?

Seems like only schedules added in MP after Backupsettings were installed are saved. Not even those imported the old way in TV Channels tab were saved.

No big deal, if I just remove the old ones and schedule them again, it will work!
