BBC HD Picture breaks up and corrupts after a few minutes (1 Viewer)

If I watch BBC HD, its fine for a few minutes, then the picture starts to beak up and "flash" and various other corruptions of the picture (as if the signal is bad).

Is this happening to anyone else?

I could probably upload a video - but being HD it will be huge. Let me know if any logs or video samples are needed!

Hi,
What H264 codec are you using (PDVD8?)? Have you got AMD cool 'n' quiet enabled? That seems to cause some people problems? I've had BBC-HD working with a HD3450 with no real problems (but with Vista and an Intel cpu). Might be worth running task manager and monitoring cpu and memory usage...

I'll give that a go.

The ATI card does hardware accel though, so the CPU isnt doing much. Also, its rather odd how it works fine for around 5 minutes, and then the picture becomes worse (blocky).

Using PDVD 8 codec.

Oh and one other thing there have several releases of PDVD8, not sure of the build I'm using but it was new about 2 weeks or so ago... If you have an older one it might be worth updating.... Did you tryi disabling the cool n quiet stuff (I seem to remember that you do it my setting one of the XP power options, a google should find the details), a few people on here have had problems with it...

OK - so dragging up my old thread.

Seems that this may have something to do with the time-shift files. I increased the size of the timeshift files and the tv took a while longer to break up. I'm guessing the larger the files, the longer it would take to break up.

Then it sounds to me like the hard drive or IO subsistem is having problems keeping up when MP asks it to create new temporary files while timeshifting.

would be interesting if you could temporarily connect a second drive and use that for timeshifting exclusively.

I already have this. I have all timeshifting on a separate drive.

I have updated PDVD and will re-test.

I will also try making the timeshift files bigger/smaller and seeing what happens. I've seen two 500MB timeshift files get created with no issues so far.

I wonder if its when the time shift files loop around? i.e. once it uses all 6 files and goes back to the first one? (this is an uneducated guess!!)

I'm sure it used to work OK, so I need to figure out what changed!

OK! Ive figured out how to temporarily fix it.

If the picture breaks up, then pressing the red button (Show GUI), adn then preesing it again to go back to fullscreen TV fixes the issue for a while. Then it starts again.
