    Hi all,

Ref. Brand new channel - BBC One HD

I use RT_UK xmltv to download my EPG data, however, despite seeing BBC One HD listed in the XML I just can't for the life of me get it to display in the EPG.

Anyone got the same problem....I am tearing my hair out. I thought all my EPG woes were behind me?

PS. I am not using the DVB EPG, I'm just using the RT app to generate my tvguide.xml once er day.

    Help?

    Ian.

If you're receiving it via satellite you don't need any xml grabbers at all, it can be pulled directly from the dvb source without any user interaction at all. By default MP has freesat EPG support built into it, if you want the SKY EPG and series link function you can install this addon - https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...-48/sky-uk-aus-enhancements-87526/#post663100 .

Even if you are getting BBC1-HD via Freeview MP can pull the data direct from the DVB-T stream as far I know.

    Hi,

I have never managed to get dvb sourced epg to work reliably, some channels no data, others only now & next........and thats trying both my dvb-s & dvb-t sources.................hence I switched to xmltv from rt_uk.

You should consider revisiting the DVB-S data pull using the addon I linked to. It works 100% populating all the channels with a full 7 day EPG. That addon is under active development and is very well supported. If decide to use the addon, you only need to disable all other epg grabbers set up MP to pull the data from just one radio channel "EPG background audio". This will populate all the channels on SKY (which includes 99% of freesat) with a full 7 day EPG. It takes less than 10 minutes for the data to be pulled and it can be do at intervals of your choosing.

Even without using that addon you could try the built in Freesat data pull, you do not have to install anything new, just a slight change to your current configuration.

    To enable this
    (1) Disable all your current EPG and xml grabber in MP.
    (2) Open the Tv Server configuration.
    (3) In the TVserver configuration menu go to the "DVB EPG" sections. Tick the "Always try to update existing entries" the "Enable CRC check" and the "EPG Grabbing while idle" boxes. Set the time out "EPG Grabbing while idle" to 15 minutes and the refresh to 1440 minute to update every 24hours.
    (4) Under the "DVB EPG" sections there is a sub menu called "Radio EPG" .
    (5) In that sub menu look for the radio channel called "Freesat Info" it's on frequency 11428000. Place a tick in box beside it.
    (6) Then go to the "Manual control" section of the TV server configuration menu and do a "Refresh DVB EPG"

After about 10 minutes the EPG will have updated and your guide should be populated. It will only take 10 -15 minutes to do the above and it's worth it especially if it will stop your rearing out your hair. :)

Believe me I'd be bald by now if this function in wasn't in MP;)

Try the built in freesat first, no point in messing around to much. Sure if you get that working there will be no need for the SKY EPG addon, all that really does is give series link and one or two extra channels you will probably never watch.

Let me know how you get on.

    Ok,

    Trying it now.......

Did everything and under Manual Control I see Card 2 (one of my DVB-S cards - Freesat) flashes up "Grabbing EPG" every now and then and a different channel each time, so I guess it's taking the 60secs (max) per channel and getting the data.

I have a couple of channels that are on Freeview but aren't on Freesat, is there are specific channel on Freeview I should select per the "Freesat Info" one.

Thanks for the help.......this is looking much better.

    Ian.

    UPDATE:-
Ahhhh, I think I read that Freeview EPG data is transmitted on every mux, so I just need to enable any channel.

I don't think you should being seeing that. You should see the EPG grabbing on the selected TV or radio channels only ie - the "Freesat info" radio channel. It should be a continuous grab lasting up to 10 minutes depending on your system spec. Just make sure no other channel (other than one DVB-T channel for your freeview channels) are selected either in the Radio EPG grabber or the TV EPG grabber sections.

Also make sure your are not recording/time shifting when updating, the TV server should be idle when doing the EPG update.

Hmmmm, under TV EPG GRABBER it says "Grab EPG for these channels".............so I read that as you have to select the channels you want EPG data for....?

Ok, so now I have deselected all TV channels and all I have is the radio channel for Freesat Info and 1off radio channel (not sure if "all mux's" includes radio) for DVB-T.

I hit the Refresh DVB EPG button and then started MP.......20mins later my EPG is still blank......so I guess the TV Service has to be totally inactive. Running another test now.

    Ian.

    UPDATE:
Hmmm, can I run xmltv alongside DVB EPG? Which has priority? Just wondered if I could use XMLTV for most channels and DVB EPG for that missing BBC One HD channel?

Ok, starting to see data on the guide......although it's not complete as yet. One thing I do notice is that the timescale is different. More stretched out than XMLTV data was. There's probably an XML file that controls this though, if not a setting in the config apps.

    UPDATE II:
Ok, got all channel data EXCEPT Sky News & BBC One HD.
