Could someone please let me know if what appears to be native support for winlirc is actually a dead function.
I've installed winlirc and have the correct config file ie I can change channels on my settop box using winlirc directly.
I've enabled winlirc in the remote section and it automatically starts with MP.

The cryptic config info on that page seems to suggest that you have to enter something like "foxtel:0:1,0,8" in the channel number entry in the channel section, instead of just the channel number in the case of a serial port controlled set top box.

Is this right? I've seached high and low and I cant find any info on this at all, just a ton of people asking the same question. Could someone thats expirienced with winlirc + MP PLEASE help? Even if its just to say that I'm wasting my time. There once appeared to be a winlirc plugin but thats dissapeared as well.

All I want to do is let media portal change the channels on my set top box. I'm not trying to get winlirc to recieve anything. I have the right codes but I'm so close and yet so far. Any help would be hugely appreciated.

    :D

    any old devs out there?

    Really?

No one at all knows anything how to set up winlirc in MP?

Can I ask why is the option still there?

I know this thread is a bit older but the last few days I startet to code a little plugin which is able to communicate with WinLIRC. It sends a user defined command to MP. Though there are some Bugs in the configuration window it is still useable on my system. If you are interested I can send you the plugin dll and the sourcecode (To ensure you there is no virus).

What about the IR server suite? I don't use MP yet (just in the early stages of building my HTPC), but I'm considering the IR server suite as it appears to have support for my TV card's remote. I have done a little bit of reading on WinLIRC as well, which seems like it could be a good option - and the IR server suite appears to have support for it. Anyhow, could be an option for you shaunpatrick.

    Cheers,
    Craig

I've had the same problem. I can get Winlirc to change channels but can't get MP .0.2.3 to talk to Winlirc.

    Why don't it work?
