Hi all, I couldn't find a topic on this subject so I decided to start one myself. I'd like to know what you all consider the best resolution for a skin, and why so. I'm currently working on a new skin myself (pretty much in the brainstorm-phase though) so I'm curious what your view on this is. Picking a resolution for your new skin is probably one of the first steps and it's one hell of a job to change that later on in the process. The first distinction is: Are you going for the HD-ready or Full-HD approach? From what I've seen, the majority of the skins is centered around HD-Ready. I kinda understand this: I have a HD-Ready LCD myself so it's kinda difficult for me to design a Full-HD skin if I can't even test it properly.;) I guess this explains it. As you may have noticed I didn't mention an actual resolution yet, and this brings me to another thing: From what I've seen there are two resolutions used for HD-Ready: 1366x768 and 1280x720. The first resolution is what most LCD's will display when connected to the HTPC, and the second one is the actual 720p/HDReady resolution. But the odd thing is that both resolutions seem to be used quite a lot. For example, the popular Monochrome and Aeon skins use 1366x768 while the just as popular StreamedMP and Xfactor skins are based on 1280x720. So I wonder: What do you consider the optimal resolution for a skin? Also, please explain why. As we all know Mediaportal does a great job at upscaling so (for example) Monochrome looks great on a FullHD screen as well, but still, there obviously are some differences. Especially the difference between 1366x768 and 1280x720 remains somewhat unclear to me. I'm curious what y'all think about this.:D
