When I'm watching videos that aren't the same aspect ratio as my screen (16:9), MP adds black bars either vertically or horizontally to make up the screen size. This is fine. However, it seems that the colour of the bars being added is not pure black, but rather "dark grey". This becomes most noticeable if watching with the lights turned low, when black sections in the video look darker than the surround. Does anyone have any ideas how I could go about correcting this?

I fixed mine by configuing my nvidia driver to use 0-255 colors instead of 16-255. You can find this setting in your nividia control panel under the video section. You must have a fairly recent nvidia driver or this option will not be available to adjust.
