I used to use EVR when I ran Vista on my HTPC, but since so much stuff just don't work with it I had to change back to XP

In XP all I get is a black screen when I watch films with EVR. I have sound and the movie is clearly playing, but I have no picture. Everything works ok with WMR9, except for the poor blacklevels compared to EVR. Its the same with 0.2.3.0 stable and with the svn from 28 of january.

Microsoft doesn't officially support EVR on XP -> MP Team doesn't support EVR on XP. Also on XP the EVR is done always completely in software mode (HW acceleration disabled).

The poor black levels is just a configuration issue with Nvidia drivers. It's possible to get identical black level response from VMR9 and EVR.

I'm ok with that, just seemed like lots of people got it working in xp.. Exactly how can I get the same blacklevels in WMR9? I tried playing around with the nvidia control panel but the results was far from what I got with EVR.

My issue with EVR in xp is only that i cannot see, FF\RW content for both recorded TV and Divx\MP4's.

Otherwise it is working fine.

This is with 7900GS, so not to different there, 169.28 driver for xp. Last couple of days TVE3\MP svn's, actually just put on latest 17386, but no problem's on earlier.

Oh just a thought, i am using latest stable Vista codec pack with Nvidia purevideo decoder set for mpeg2.

Can see in Vista with EVR, but images are more random than vmr9, maybe this is a graphics limitation of dx, just not sure on this one and needs a lot more investigation to pinpoint exact problem, otherwise fine.

If anyone with a full DX10 graphics card would like to say anything, would really be appreciated.

Tested with both a X1950PRO a 3850 and a 3870: same results...

Also with VMR9 FFwd is working ok, FRwd is not working at all...

Got things looking pretty ok under WMR9 now, its not as good as it was under vista(I see the difference - my gf doesn't), but almost everything else works with xp so I'm not going back. I'll use vista on another comp instead so the $ wasn't wasted.

Now to the ffdshow upscale part - wish me luck

Whenever I do anything that involves FFDSHOW, I only get 25FPS (when hitting "!"). I only get 50FPS when using DXVA only. Please report back your experience/findings with FFDSHOW.
