    Hi all,

This is very strange.. after working for a month pretty normal, all of a sudden I cant watch standard tv channels anymore.. and yes I DID pay my provider :)

    It is with dutch Multikabel.

Decoders must work OK, I think, because some channels still do work fine, however also some channels now stutter a lot (Like National Geographic, the normal one, NGC-HD is OK!)

But the dutch channels like Nederland 1 to 3, RTL 4,5 and 7 (there may be more, but this are the ones I checked)dont work. The TVserver does find the channels,(I did a rescan several times) but when trying to watch, I get a black screen.. also with time shifting and recording.

Jetix and some other channels do work, but also with a lot of stutter.

Only the HD channels do work OK, without stutter.

What I have done/tried so far:

    Updated the SVN
uninstalled mediaportal, reinstall with latest SVN
    Uninstalled tvserver, reinstalled latest revision
    Unregistered the Dscaler codecs
    Unregistered MPV video decoder
Tried Microsoft MPEG2 decoder for TV
Tried with and without hardware acceleration (cyberlink decoder), no difference
    Unregistered the monosomething AAC decoder
deleted TVlibrary in SQL database, did a rescan after that
Reworked transponderlist to latest list (Feb 9) (no difference)
    Reinstalled fireDTV firmware
    Reinstalled Firedtv BDA drivers
    Swear a lot.
Smashed a remote in thousand pieces after throwing it through the room against a wall.
    writing this

The only thing I havent tried is reinstalling PowerDVD, so the cyberlink codecs will be reinstalled. But I am also curious what may have caused this stupid behavior. Everything seemed fine the last time I turned it all off, and yesterday I turned it on and nothing seems to wo work.

Log attached, created just a minute ago. I tried to watch Nederland 1, a channel that shows a black screen and no sound, but is found during a channel scan..

I hope someone knows what to do next.

    Thanks.

Uninstalled Powerdvd and reinstalled it again.. no help.. now also Discoverychannel HD doesnt work anymore..

It seems to be something with the Mpeg2 decoder.. The channels that do show picture and sound do stutter a lot.. I mean the picture runs for 2 seconds and then stops for a second and then runs for two or three seconds and stops for a ssecond.. sometimes also the picture gets blocky. Not pleasant to watch

Guys see if Filmerit finds any problems, this maybe a driver \xp update that has screwed things for you (happening a lot lately).

    Cheers

Filmerit found 3 errors for me in "Microsoft Kernel Wave Audio Mixer", "Microsoft Kernel Acoustic Echo Canceller" and "Microsoft Kernel GS Wavetable Synthesizer". That dont say much to me cant add it to be reinstalled either. Any ideas Paranoid? Thanks again for your time and help!

Oh i saw somewhere on this forum a post about a dude who had only black screens in my tv and he had not installed his sound card and when he did everything worked ... my point is all my errors in Filmerit seems to point at stuff that has to do with sound, only problem is i have already tried to reinstall my sound drivers with no luck and the device works in every other program

I just had somewhat of a breakthrough i now can watch TV. It was the timeshift option that screwed everything up (enabled timeshift automatically) Now i can watch tv in fullscreen perfectly but when i have the MP meny showing (and the tv in a preview window) the menu lags and obviously i cant use the timeshift option.

Set timeshift to default OFF.. no help
Installed old SVN (28-02-2008) that did work earlier.. no help
Filmerit found ZERO errors among 235 filters (!)

Anything else I should try? I am out of options now.

OK, Today I have spend to reinstall Vista completely! and do a clean reinstall of everything.. formatted the disk and installed everything...

Well, at least I have a picture and sound, but it is terrible. SDTV is like a very slow slide show, sound also terrible with spikes and stutter..

I really do not have a clue what is wrong, I set everything as it was before when it worked fine. The only channel that is OK to watch is NGC-HD, (the only TV channel that uses the H264 codec) the rest is terrible.

I suspect the Cyberlink codec cant work properly after a Vista Update, but I have no clue what it can be.

PLEASE HELP.. Now I am really out of options.

    Thanks!

For the devs I have added a log file.

My actions: Open mediaportal, open My TV, SDTV channel showing black screen, no audio, changing channel to a SDTV channel that works OK (discovery channel), Change to HD channel that works ok (NGC-HD), change back to a channel that doesnt work (dutch commercial channel RTL 5, for what its worth), close Mediaportal

PLEASE have a look, I really miss watching the news :)

    Thanks,

Your getting lots of grief on this one.

Does it work with digital everywhere's software first. yes\no helps.

Are you using a pre 18080 and TVE3 release must be same as MP svn revision number, otherwise nothing will work correctly anyway.

There are no patches that you need to get this to work with vista as you most probably know.

If all else fails remove 2 of your memory modules, its amazing what screwed memory can do, sounds extreme, but unless you have experienced it you do not know.
