What do you call the aspect ratio and where do you change it? In the control panel/display? Is it screen resolution? Or in MP during playback in TV settings? In the later case, I never played with iy and I have the black sreen problem.

A dynamic workaround is to switch to video mode. The fact is it does not always work and I have to do it several times till I can watch a movie or TV fullscreen!

To answer Wewe I think there is presently a tradeoff between avoiding the tearing problem and using a 120 dpi display.

When I switch to both 120 dpi and exclusive directX I have the black screen problem which is very very erratic, as I said before.

Until I undergo a tearing problem, I must say 120 dpi is a must on a TV set. So this issue is very important.

Unless somebody finds an absolute trick (as Krumlov with the aspect ratio), we can sum all this up this way: 120 dpi and use of exclusive directX does not work, at least for many of us.

there are 3 threads regarding the same problem. In one of the other threads someone found out that the picture is ok usin' aspect ratio "original". With all other ratios it is black. I can second that.

As I am 0,1% of my time in windows (when setting up MP) and 99,9% of my time in fullscreen TV there is no tradeoff for me.

thanks+regards

Still spending 1% of the time on other pieces of software as video editng is not something you can't do on a $700 multimedi box! :)

For me, changing from 120 to standard did not fix it. When I turned off exclusive directx, the tv window would note draw in the correct spot in preview mode, rendering it useless. And it still didnt show right in full screen mode. I will check my aspect ratio and see if that helps.
