Blue-Screen Playing DVDs (1 Viewer)

Hey guys. Bit of an issue I've got. I've been using MediaPortal for a while now, and I've ALWAYS had this issue. I can play music/videos/tv/radio/anything in MediaPortal without ANY issues. However, DVDs have ALWAYS been problematic. Sometimes they start playing fine, but sometimes when I try and start one, it just blue-screens and the computer reboots. It would be really great to get this working so I can finally integrate EVERYTHING into MP. I don't know what to do! I have posted a log that I retrieved after rebooting right after it happened. I hope you can tell me whats wrong! Thanks for the help!

The error log here I took right after the blue screen happened. In this scenario, I was playing the Bourne Supremacy (all these movies, by the way, are decrypted rips on the hard drive.) It loaded up fine, I skipped to the root menu... fine. Pressed 'play movie' and the root menu did it's little animation. Then it disappeared and the movie went to play but instead I just got a blue screen. It didn't say anything at the top, but the stop code was:

STOP: 0x0000007F (0x0000000D, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

TV-Server Version: The one that came with RC3?
MediaPortal Version: 1.0 RC3
MediaPortal Skin: That new one...
Windows Version: XP SP3
CPU Type: AMD FX-62

When I was using XP, Nvidia drivers were having same issue. Only way to fix that crashing was to use software based decoders or move to Vista.

You could try different driver version to see if it helps, if not then use software based mpeg2 decoder.

Hmmm... I don't understand. Is it just that the drivers don't play well with MediaPortal? Because I don't have any issues watching DVDs in, say, PowerDVD.

I think PowerDVD uses overlay, instead of the VMR9 / EVR and it might be enough difference for the drivers.

Is there anyone that can confirm that this is the issue? I know it's not that easy, and maybe noone can but I really don't want to start messing with the drivers unless it's fairly certain it will solve the problems - it's such a pain.

Also, would using one of those plugins that adds PowerDVD support to MediaPortal work to solve the issue?

You could try disabling DXVA, as showed in the manual -> MediaPortal/Configuration/DVD/Codecs - MediaPortal Wiki Documentation and/or use MPV or FFDShow
