Blue2 font change in 0.2.2.0? (1 Viewer)

I downloaded 0.2.2.0, uninstalled 0.2.0.0, renamed the old folder and installed the new version in a new folder.

I selected Blue2 16:9 and I noticed that the font has changed, it seems to be some kind of bold font now, at least it looks fatter. I also tried Blue2 4:3 and I also have this font, but it seems to work better at 4:3. In 16:9, when I go to settings, the orange selection circles overlap with the text. It really seems like the font is wrong.

Is this just on my system or was there a font change? How do I put it back to the old one?

Also, I notice the new transition animations seem to be a little bit choppy even after I cranked up the framerate. Is there a way to add more frames to make them smoother?

Yes the font has been changed.
I didn't know that Boilermaker changed the font of B2 16:9 but I've checked B2 wide and couldn't find an orange selection or overlapping circles.

Could you please give me a hint where to spot that issue?

belzebutt, I haven't maintained a version of blue two since a release for mp .2.0.4, which would not work in mp .2.2.0. I stopped working on versions of bluetwo in any way a few weeks prior to the release of mp .2.1.0. Doesn't sound like you are using an older, no longer supported version of my skins tho because i never used any font other than arial (the default skins currently use Franklin Gothic Medium).

Just to be sure, i'm going to edit the old bluetwo 1280x720 thread to remove any links, then try to get the download of the old skin off the repository page.

Anyway, to actually answer one of your questions, if you would like to use a narrower font, open up fonts.xml in a text editor and do a find for "Franklin Gothic Medium" and replace with "Arial". Before you do that, make an original copy of fonts.xml so you can revert back if you don't like the results. Changing a font can lead to alignment issues, which may be more of a problem than not liking the current font.

only some OSDs have been changed for the new font therefore replacing the fonts.xml with the one from 0.2.1 would also work.

This is where I see the issue:

Another issue I've seen is that when I adjust the position of the OSD downwards in the setup, it only appears adjusted while playing a movie when I have both the upper OSD and lower OSD "info box" or whatever you call it. However, when I'm watching a movie file and I hit the side-arrows to skip forward, backward, or when I pause, and only the top OSD bar is showing, it is not being adjusted at all (and appears cut off at the top on my TV).

I did the search and replace and saved the file but it seems to have no effect on the font. I took screenshots before and after, with the 4:3 skin and 16:9 skin, and the fonts are identical whether the file has "Arial" as every font or Franklin Gothic Medium. I double/triple checked that I updated the correct files each time to make sure.

Does this new animated skinning engine store the fonts somewhere else?

Edit: I re-loaded MP a few minutes later and now I do see a different font in Blue2, the font now looks wider, and it overlaps with the orange selection checkmark even more. Is it the setting box that needs to be widened?

I tried a different skin, went back to Blue2 wide, and now the Arial font change again has no effect!

It's as if it only works some of the time, the rest of the time it stay stuck on Franklin Gothic Medium.

One step was left out. After making any change to the fonts.xml file, you need to delete the contents of the fonts directory for the skin you are trying to change (i.e. ../BlueTwo/fonts). When you restart mp, the splash screen will pause a little longer on "Initializing Fonts" because mp is regenerating the fonts files using the new fonts.xml. Animations and changing the fonts should have nothing to do with one another.
