Hi.

Does anyone know if there is a way to Boot a PC from a remote control, perhaps with a device connected to the LAN that the remote control could send to? E.G using wake on lan or even with the PC switched of? I have searched the forum without any result so far.

Exactly like for Hameno, I have a iMon Visual Display (that has an infra-red receiver) wich is connected to the PSU of my PC Case (Antec Micro Fusion 350). Each Time I press the Power Button on my remote, it starts the PC which was switched off.

In another flavor, allmost all BIOSes of Motherboards have an option to Enable called "Wake up from USB ...", that permits some USB devices such like Infra Red (IR) or Radio Frequency (RF) receivers (or even keybords, etc..) to wake up the PC. But those devices, generally not connected to the PSU can only wake up the PC only if this one is in sleep mode (except if they can provide their own power in order to be themselves only in a sleep mode state, with a battery for instance).
Some details here : Remote Wakeup of USB Devices

Another Micro Fusion Remote 350 user here. The only thing I use the built-in receiver for is to power up the machine - the iMON receiver is otherwise impossible IME to get reliable with a Logitech Harmony. I have a USB Hauppage MCE-compatible remote that I use for everything else.

I have no problems with my Harmony/Imon setup. The customization posibilities puts it ahead of anything else imo.

The main problem I have is that I've found it impossible to reliably get exactly one button press registered per actual button press. No matter what delays, # times sending codes, etc that I configure for the logitech, sometimes it will register 2 button presses for a single actual press.

After wrestling with it for a couple of days, I gave up and bought the MCE-compatible remote. Everything working properly (via EventGhost) within an hour.

It's possible that if I'd worked with the Logitech technicians the problems could have been solved, but the iMON software itself is very limiting compared to something like EventGhost.

Noob question incoming.....

When you guys are talking about "iMon" is that an acronym for something or is that a brand name or what? Can someone provide a link to look at one(for instance on newegg) please?

I was planning on using this case:
Newegg.com - nMEDIAPC Black Aluminum / Acrylic / Steel HTPC 6000B ATX Media Center / HTPC Case - HTPC / Media Center Cases

and this remote:
Newegg.com - Gyration GYR3101US Universal Infrared / RF Remote Control

But if I can get another remote that actually makes my PC boot up then I would much rather have that :)

The case I have picked out doesn't have an available 5.25" drive bay for front panel stuff, which I like it that way as I want it to appear as a normal home theater device, not a computer.

The remote I picked does IR and RF which I think I will really enjoy since I would prefer to use RF for my HTPC, as I have an IR remote now that came with my Creative card and I don't care for the whole LoS problem with IR.

Any input/suggestions would be appreciated :) Thanks in advance!

When we are speaking about iMon devices, we are speaking about the Soundgraph products in fact.

See there if you want to have a precise idea of what we are speaking about : http://www.soundgraph.com

Is there any hope of getting the remote I picked out to work with this iMon receiver for powering up the PC? Or better yet getting my remote to power it up over RF??
