    I download them manually from the many differt sites offering them. This site for example -> http://www.divxsubtitles.net/ (good!).
    It would be perfect if it was possible to download the subtitle files from withing MP but that, I understood from a topic I've started a short while ago, would be illegal becouse subtitles have copywrite protection. Otherwise it could be possible.

    Suggestion: You could implement automatic detect for a file with a .srt (actually there are several extensions possible, but .srt is the most common) extension and the same filename as the moviefile, in the movie directory. Because these are the criteria that need to be met for using subtitles with vobsub (when watching avi/mpg/divx/etc. files). So most people who use subtitles will use it that way, I think. This could prevent having to select a subtitle file manualy and having to write the code for this interaction.

    I havent looked at burning DivX files yet....I thought you meant TV subtitles :) But its on the list.
    If we are getting to the stage of having to download specific files externally (and possibly FTP'ing them onto the MP box, surely this should be beyond the scope of the MyBurner plugin. I see it as a purely self contained plugin. But I will probably add it :)
    For the subtitle file, how do they work? Do you have the DVD menu option to turn it on or off? Or are they permanently on?

    I just have my movies directory on the MP pc shared with full rights for me. So if i want to add a subtitle I download it with my workstation and copy the file to the sharedDirectory\movieDirectory\ on the HTPC.
    Then I rename it to the movie filename.

    For example:

    D:\MyMovies\ is the shared direcotry where I story my movies
    12345.srt is the original subtitle file I downloaded that should match the movie. Let's take King Kong 2005 for example.

    From my workstation I copy 12345.srt to the shared directory on my HTPC. Now we have D:\MyMovies\King Kong 2005\12345.srt.

    The exact name of the movie is King.Kong.2005.DVDRIP.avi
    -> D:\MyMovies\King Kong 2005\King.Kong.2005.DVDRIP.avi

    Now I rename D:\MyMovies\King Kong 2005\12345.srt to D:\MyMovies\King Kong 2005\King.Kong.2005.DVDRIP.srt

    If I play the movie with Windows Media Player or Winamp for example, VobSub (included in the K-Lite Mega Codecpack) automaticly starts and plays the subtitles in overlay over the movie. You know VobSub started because of a small green arrow in the taskbar. And yes, you can enable/disable them. But there are no menu's when using VobSub.

    My girlfriend is hearig impared so I have subtitles for almost all my movies and use it all the time. It works with no effort on MP when VobSub is installed. So just install VobSub... voila.

    If the .str filename is not exactly the same as the movie filename, the subtitles won't show.

    OK. Didnt know that. Quite cunning :)
    How does it work when burned to the DVD? Are the subtitles embedded in the DVD video, or are they an option that can be turned on via a DVD menu?

    With Avi2DVD it's like an original dvd. Selectable in the menu. You can even add multiple versions/languages. But there are also tools that render the subtitles in the movie. The first option is obviously the preferrable. Because the visiual quality of the subs is beter.

    Avi2DVD is still in beta, and also the most powerfull tool there is. Only Nero Vision Express might be a bit better because of the user friendly interface.

    Can we get the source for Avi2DVD?

    Todays update : Im making DVD's with multiple user selected MPG's :) Got some issues going from DVD track to track that im trying to debug. Suspect its to do with my dvdauthor syntax. Also looking at DVD menu's with buttons for each track as well as custom backgrounds.

    Todays update
    ==========

    Can now happily burn multiple tracks to the DVD. No menu yet.
    And some big news is that I think I can now burn DivX to DVD from MP. I have tested it on a small clip from Divx.com....will test out a proper DivX movie when I get home tonight.
    Im using ffmpeg.exe to do the conversion but it seems really slow (as in it seems to convert in realtime speed). Does anyone know of a faster way to do the conversion to MPEG?

    I think all tools that convert to MPEG from any compression are slow. Realtime seem quite fast even (depending on the computers capabilities).
    The latest version of Nero Vision Express can take up to two hours of conversiontime for a 1h 30min movie (On a AMD64 3200+ with 1,5GB RAM). I assume Nero uses the latest tegnology.
