I've been having major hangs when watching HDTV using the PowerDVD 8 Trial version of cl264dec.ax codec. The video would hang (stay static or loop frames) with the audio continuing. I changed my H.264 codec to software mode (fDDShow: latest version from the Sourceforge site) & the issue disappeared: sort of.

The video would still have issues: it would attempt to hang or skip, but get by the problem. I looked at the CPU useage & it varied between 28%-63% total useage with the Mediaportal programme between 20%-45% measured via Porcess Explorer. I changed back to the PowerDVD8 codec & the useages dropped to under 25% & up to 10% respectively. This issue appears worst on TV3.

I thought I would try & kill some processes (originally had 44 running) I started with MCE Standby & MP Tray. Guess what: well, I thought I had totally rectified the issue. But as I am writing this, the hang issue recurred. But is has improved. I am now able to escape (back button or stop on MCE remote) out of the hang & restart from hang position. And the time before the hang presents itself is significantly longer. However, I have just discovered that the more times I restart, the quicker it hangs. But I can just watch another video

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing the video frame skips or even where I should start looking? Thanks.

I need to add that the issues generally only present themselves when watching a recorded programme that has not finished, watching it via the guide when still recording, or watching it after it has finished. Watching Live TV does not present the problem, at least at the time of this edit.

Regarding Popcorn Hour, I have located a derivitive of TSREMUX called TSREMUX00201.exe which remuxes the .TS file. This derivitive allows command line execution. I placed code inside the comskip bat file to firstly remux the TS file before running comskip and I can now see and hear the DVB-S TS files on the Popcorn Hour. Actually the video quality is execellent on the PCH.

Still no audio codec for DVB-T yet but at least the DVB-S material is useable now in PCH.

Hi, where did you get the trial version 8 from? The only one I've been able to find is version 7 which of course doesn't have the H.264 codec.

Anyone had any luck with demuxing/encoding dvb-t to mkv/avi etc yet? im waiting to hear back from a Freeview tech who has experience doing it - hopefully can point us in the right direction.

I look forward to getting it sorted, but have to admit I've been spending most of my time trying to get HD working without hangs/slowdowns

ive mostly been using media portal for scheduling and watching recorded shows, so havnt noticed as much. It seems that in the last few days tho, almost every time i change the channel it ends up in that weird loop - this dosnt affect recordings at all

i have one of the DSE freeviewHD hw decoders too, so mainly use that for watching livetv

My TV3 is still doing the silly loop thing every now and then... Which is a pain cause it was working fine and I haven't changed anything on my HTPC.....?

I've got MP running on Vista Home Premium and I'm trying to get it to update the TV Guide on a daily basis from xMLTVnz with no joy so far.....

I've created a scheduled job to run the batch file to grab the EPG data. If I double click the batch file it works perfectly.... If I manually run the scheduled task it runs perfectly by at 2am when it tries to run it I get the following error...

Task Scheduler failed to start "\Grab EPG Data" task for user "MediaCentre-PC\MediaCentre". Additional Data: Error Value: 2147943726.

Is anyone able to help???? For the life of me I can't get any scheduled tasks to work on this machine. On my other Vista Home Premium machine I can create loads of scheduled tasks and they run no problem....?
