well i can't believe what an issue i had getting analogue to work on my hvr-4000

dvbs worked great, but i seem to have serious issues with sky in the lounge when trying to watch freeview in my room. figured out that this is due to vertical and horizontal signals being distributed.

since sky is changing to the same vertical frequency as freeview sometime soon i decided to just sit back and wait.

but my god, the support for hauppauge is shocking, the drivers released with my hvr-4000 seem to fail to create the graph necessesary for media portal, so i tried installing some drives for the hvr-3000 which work kinda nicely when using analogue (haven't tried using the digital tuners)

next problem seemed to be after scanning channels and finding them, when finally in media portal i could load one channel nicely, but when i tried to change channels all of a sudden it would lag and i'd lose audio. Finally after a while of playing round with different buttons, i found out i could either disable and then re-enable tv, or much more simply i could press pause, then play with the hauppauge remote and for god only knows what reason all my issues are fixed.

sorry for how longwinded that was, but i was wondering if anyone else has had the same or similar issues with hauppauge in the past.

I am having issues finding the drivers so i can enable my hauppage remote at all, but I have both my dvb-s and 500 working sweet, some lag changing channels but i figured that was due to some precaching or timeshift type stuff...will look into this shortly

Cheers for the reply re the two dvb-s cards, this is the way i am going to go, need to get a quieter cooler for my amd 3200+ tho, the stock one is like a jet engine

as far as the quieter cooler goes, why don't you just cut the cable thats powering the fan to drop it from 12v to 10v i did that with my stock cooler and now it's quiet as.

the drivers for the hauppauge remote are universal, so long as it's the 45 button remote, download any of their newer drivers and just install ir32.exe you don't even need to restart after that.

as for the cpu fan, i can't remember what the resistor is i used now because after i soldered it i covered it in heat shrink.

So heres how i'd recommend you do it. find a spare female molex connector and connect the red and black of your cpu fan (via soldering) the same way you see in the guide.

Turn off cpu fan warnings in the bios (you can normally leave on over temperature monitors) and voilla you've got a nice slow & Quiet!! fan that still keeps that puppy cool enough

If you do this you have to lose the yellow cable, all it is is a signal wire for fan speed.

Freeview Aspect Ratios with TV Engine

Hi All

I installed the new TV Engine over the weekend and have ended up with an annoying aspect ratio problem.

I have the server and client running on my main HTPC, using a Skystar 2. TV1 & TV2 now behave differently to the way they did when using the old TV engine.

The picture appears squashed (everyone is fat). Changing between Normal, Zoom and Stretch gives me the exact same picture! Selecting original gives me a small squashed picture in the center of the screen. TV3 & C4 are the same as they used to be, ie setting the mode to stretch gievs me a perfect picture.

Using a client on a different machine to connect to the TV server however, gives me the correct aspect ratios. Also using the "Preview" button in the TV Server configuration tool on the HTPC, aslo gives me the correct aspect ratios.

It seems to point to something wrong with the TV client component on my HTPC, but I can't find any related settings in the plugin.

Does anyone else have this problem, or have any suggestions on what to poke at?

what codec are you using for decoding tv?

That was the same problem I had a few weeks ago. I changed to the nVidia Pure encoder but it did not help. It is for that reason i changed back to single user 0.2.3 Rec1 but I would rather use the TV engine (Server).

Does anyone have a blaster working with the Sky decoder STB (the later little silver one - Pace-230NNZ)? I have tried the two methods found at the Team-MP site (MyBlaster and MCE Replacement) and the first works on test but not in actual operation and the second works for some channel numbers but not others. This is with MP 0.2.3 Rec1.

Hi Philster, i believe that the TV server uses the codec from your movies setting rather than tv (bell ringing somewhere far away at the back of my mind) make sure that you configure this codec suitably also. Which svn version are you using, have you tried any others?
