you probably already said but what analog card are you using? Is it a hauppauge PVR-150? In my analog channels I have the following for prime:

Channel: 316
Frequency:0
Input Type: Cable
Country: New Zealand
Source Tuner


I couldn't scan any channels till I put my input type to cable instead of antenna!

Cool I will try that tonight and see how i go, I have a hauppage 500 dual tuner whatsit, nice card, I think part of the problem maybe that we are in a fringe area for reception.

Oh and the icons look great in my guide, is there a way to get them to display on screen when you change channels...would be a nice touch but completely unneccesary

Last time I tried to scan with my PVR150 it wouldnt find any UHF channels. I had to manualy enter them.

That page says 61V* is the one for whakatane tried 61 in the TV server, nothing, not sure if i can force V in the server I will try the 791 blah blah frequency and see if that makes any difference

The "V" is the aerial orientation, you dont use the V anywhere. V=vertical or H=horizontal.

Figured that might be the case, well got it working found prime by changing to cable, now its disappeared again...so it is there, I am really begining to think that it is due to fringe signal issues.

Hi all,

I have been on these forums for a year or so, but thought I would check in with the rest of the NZ'ers (Brooklyn, Wellington here).

Have been using a series 1 tivo w/ sky digital for the last 6 months but have just switched back to using Media Portal with a pvr150. Will hopefully stick with mp now, but im already missing the tivo a wee bit - it literally ran for 6 months without a reboot/crash/anything :|

I am thinking of installing a dvb-s card for freeview, but have heard that we are still a few weeks away from being able to use the sky satellite/lnb with freeview - does anyone have more information on this? I want to put a splitter before the cable goes into my sky decoder, and run one side of the split to a freeview decoder (will i still need an STB or does the dvb-s card do everything?).

Basically I just want to be able to record tv1, 2, and 3 from freeview, while watching sky through the pvr150. Any suggestions on hardware would be great!

Also, am I going crazy or did there use to be a skin that looked ALOT like MCE?

Sky transponders are now moved to H-Pol so they are the same as freeview. So yes you just need a splitter. 1 side goes to the sky box the other side goes straight to the DVB-S PCI card. You don't need another STB for freeview

Yeah I think it happen on the 31st July, Not sure though; I don't have sky. Check out the Home Theater thread on the geekzone forum were some discussions about it. As far as DVB-S cards, I've been very happy with my skystar 2 I bout off trade me for $145. Can't say I've had any problems with my Technotrend 1500S either.
