Just my personal opinion .... but the MediaPOrtal Wiki I found incredibly confusing, as so much info seemed lost in there.
For example, I didnt come across the New Zealand regionalisation bit for quite a while:

Maybe we need someone to start a NZ MediaPOrtal forum.
Ive got my own web servers in a data centre in Auckland ... so could easily host some forum software (in fact Ive a customised ones which allows interaction wtih Web Wiz via Email.

I would be really keen for a seperate forum area or site for NZ specific MP info too...
side note: MP has been really pissing me off the last few weeks. Just the little things. Like if I have 2 scheduled recordings running at once, then stop one of the recordings manually MP seems to crash. Some of my DVB-S captures occasionally have irregular dropped frames even when cpu/memory usage isnt peaking. Also I just feel that the whole analog sky / freeview setup could be alot better if we could just select which card to use for viewing and recording on a per channel basis.

Anyways my vote for a seperate forum hosted in NZ, we would obviously still participate in these forums as there is a lot of general information here that we would still require, but as far as fixing NZ problems a local site makes more sense, stickies for Freeview, sky etc etc.

1.Wiki can be tidied up with a good entry link and then we can have full control over everything inside
2.Forums keep scrolling- the same questions keep getting asked and answered. Better if we could have a single point of reference- first check the wiki then ask questions if you're still having trouble then feed that back into the wiki.
3.Totally support a separate forum for NZ MP users and I do support hosting it elsewhere but only if the Admins of this site won't give us our own sub forum here. i.e. why take it elsewhere? I just think it's better if the New Zealand community part of the community at large. (And on the same not I intend when I have time to bring all the stuff on my TV Server page at google back in to the NZ wiki.

Yeah I agree per-channel card priority would be great I think it's something that will be implemented eventually, I've seen it mentioned/requested several times. But as per usual dev time is hard to find.

Yup Wiki can be great if kept up-2-date and holds key info which doesnt change often, eg Satellite settings etc and config / ini files

Again agree. If MediaPOrtal supports the notion of a more regionalised approach then all good and fine ... but from what Ive read of other attempts at this (eg I think someone once wanted a German one) ... it was shot down pretty early.
In some ways the MediaPortal forums are already very heavily "split" with so many forum groups, so a specific regional would be great ... but I dont think it will happen as part of this forum. COuld be wrong tho' .. and more often are
.I like the idea of a seperate NZ based forum also, but there would be complications especially in relation to combined searching of the complete knowledge centre (that this forum has become). That is why I prefer a seperate sub forum similar to the existing language specific forum for Duetsches. Kiwiana could be considered a seperate language - I suppose!!!
Perhaps one option is to raise the issue of renaming the existing Language Specific section to become Region specific, then we would have a natural place to host a sub forum. I wonder how that is done. Does this forum have an overall management structure (i.e. an owner) who could be approached?
PS If someone does open a seperate forum though, I will surely be a starter.
