I don't know about Wellington supplies of DVB-T cards, but as for the UHF aerial, you do need this for DVB-T, without it you won't be able to receive any signal just like a normal analogue system.

PCI or PCIe? If you can use PCIe then get an HVR-2200

How about for straight PCI? Also with DVB-T can one record multiple channels within a MUX like with DVB-S? (Or am I just being hopeful!)

yes you can, , although dvb-t has 3 transponders so to get all channels @ once you will need 3 cards

What is the best way to send TV or Recorded TV or HDTV from the PC to the TV?
eg what Cables, software etc.


My Graphic Card is Gigabyte GeForce 8800 GT has HDTV out by Adapter.
I have a Hauppage WinTV-HVR4000 and WinTV-PVR-350
Gigabyte GA-EX38T-DQ6 MBoard
Running Mediaportal TV Server & Client
WinXP Sp2

What TV do you have?

I have a 42" Plasma which is connected to my 8600GT via a HDMI -> DVI cable for video signal. The standard nvidia drivers are perfectly fine for use.

As for audio i have the TV audio in connected to the audio out on a fairly old 5.1 channel amplifier which is connected via its audio in to the PC through a 3.5mm Stereo to RCA cable.

Its simple but effective. The 5.1 system could easily be dropped or altered without any trouble.

What codecs do I need to use for DVB-T to work? At the moment it seems to be recording video ok (can open in VLC) but no sound, and if i try to turn tv on in MP it freezes.

Seems like all my freezing troubles came from my RAM drive not working well with the timeshift buffer and it would crash it out.

Changed the timeshift folder to a real drive and all seems to be better.

I'm still getting a lot of "glitchs" and a bit of freezeing using cyberlink and monogram aac. its driving me nuts. Happens on recorded and live TV.

using a nividia 8500gt with hardware decode and powerdvd 8 (happens with 7 as well).
