You could just stop the video instead of using escape? Then when you go to play it again it will ask you if you want to resume from the previous position. You can press 'b' to stop video.

Bah.. I finished setting it up with my TV, all I did was move it downstairs.. now I cant access any of the media on my media pc..

It has the share names there (Movies, Music) but nothing is inside them. Any ideas why this is happening? The PC is restarting now, have to wait another 20 minutes before it finishes loading MediaPortal again.

I have noticed similar behavior with MP not updating shares. Yet if you view the share (the files in it) in Explorer, the share will work in MP.

I think you may need to setup a bat file or vbscript to temporarily map shares at each boot. By 'temporarily' I mean, do not 'automatically reconnect at logon'.
The following syntax will work for you in a bat file:

    net use z: "\\your_pc\my videos" /persistent:NO
    net use y: "\\another_pc\my videos" /persistent:NO
    net use x: "\\yet_another_pc\my videos" /persistent:NO

Obviously the above 3 lines map three shares on 3 different PCs but you get the picture. Hope this helps.

Forgot to mention, I have not had much luck with hibernating MP 'if' I was watching TV when it hibernated. i.e. the TV doesn't come back on properly.
Could be my PC, could be fixed in the later MP versions, I just have haven't tried it lately so you may have different luck if you are only watching videos or listening to music.

20 minutes to boot is what you would expect as XP would have to do a lot swapping to the pagefile just to run XP before you even think about running MP.
Personally, yes it will run better on 1GHZ PC but only a little. You need lots of RAM for XP and MP. I have read many people commenting on the huge difference in performance between 512meg and 1gig RAM so 128meg makes me shudder, sorry.
It boils down to the fact that either you use MythTV on a low end PC or for ease of setup, you have a higher specked PC and run Mediaportal.

    Enjoy,
