    As per the title really.
I have a lot of DVD's of various TV shows that I am going to rip to my hard drive. The best success that I have had with quality vs file size is with handbrake and encoding to .mkv file ( I know this is just a container)
When I open the TV series config. I selected the drive to search. It finds all my shows, but the ones that are mkv it displays in red and wont import them. Any ideas where I am going wrong??

Well i have just sorted my own issue. It was my file naming that the parser didn't like. I had them as Season 5 - Episode 2 - Mother Tucker etc

It should have been 502 - Mother Tucker etc.

They are all in now :)

    Regards

I don't know what's wrong on your system, but in general mkvs just work fine. Ich have encoded all my recordings using the mkv container.

    Hi RMK,
They play fine as videos etc.
Most of my films are Mkv files for all my Bluray stuff etc. The problem that I had was in TV series, it would see them but they were all red?
As my other TV series rips were Xvid etc they were ok, I just assumed it was the mkv that was causing it and not my naming convention.
As soon as I named them with the series and episode number first they came straight in??

    Regards

    Kev

Yea mkv's work fine with me as well.
Though i prefer the naming style: for instance season 4 episode 3 of supernatural with the title sam and dean.
Supernatural.S04E03 - Sam and Dean.mkv it keeps the files nice and organized
