Can Media Portal Do This? (1 Viewer)

I want to use my resources in a manner that makes the most sense. SageTV is capable of doing the following, but I do not like the UI nearly as much.

WHS server -> Contains all media (pictures, movies, tv shows, music etc)
I would like to also install the MP TV server on this computer since it is the only PC in the house that is always left running.

Others PC -> Media Portal Client, to connect to media and use tv tuners through the sever.

My TV tuner is a HDHR (dual network TV tuner) so technically I could access it without the WHS server managing the connections but this is not ideal

Does the MP TV Server even manage the connections though? For example, I am recording on one tuner and watching tv on another, then I turn on my office PC to watch TV. Will it alert me that there are no available tuners or will it steal a connection that is already in use?

Thanks an Advance,

It should display a existing stream, but if this is digital tv we are talking about which uses multiple channels on the same transponder, by pressing the OK\Enter key on remote will bring up the mini epg, which will show a list of available channels to be able to tune too.

Thanks, I am talking about digital TV. But since these are network tuners, they will be available to every computer on the network. What I am wondering is.

    1) Will Media Portal TV Server run from WHS (now or in the future)
    2) Does Media Portal TV Server manage tuner connections. In other words, if one tuner is recording a TV program, will it delegate the free tuner to be used when another computers requests access?

    Nor officially but see https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...erver-whs-collection-fixes-workarounds-69731/

Not necessarily, it may tune to channel on same transponder as first user, obviously if they then change to a different transponder the second card will come into play.

You can allocate card preferences on channel etc, might be worthwhile looking at the manual.
