I am not sure if I can call this a bug, but since MP uses Daemon Tools for image mounting, it should be able to use ALL DT supported image types (like .nrg etc.) not only .iso.
Since this is not a limitation put on purpose (probably), I would consider it a bug - after all it ignores perfectly good images, that DT mounts ok.
