Has any nice folks out there, using MP, been able to receive DTT signal via MPEG4.
(MPEG4 absorbs many of the features of MPEG1, MPEG2 and other related standards, adding new features and a series of technologies for developers, service-providers and end users. It enables developers to improve the quality of services and technologies like digital television, animation graphics, World Wide Web and their extensions. Also, developers can control their content better and protect more against copyright violations.)
Ireland was using MPEG2 for DTT (Like Britain) prior to Aug 2008 before they switched over to MPEG4, H.264 audio visual coding for the new public service, provided by boxer but been run independently by broadcaster RTE.
There are four channels been broadcast at the moment "rte 1, 2, tv3 and tv4 using MPEG4. Viewing the TV-Server configuration there is no option for Ireland, I'm wondering could someone create a patch or describe to me how to manually configure the parameters. (Which I still have to find out)
I believe France is using DTT so could they recommend any good PCI cards, the ones been sold in ireland are based on the MPEG2 decoder that Britain is using.
The ones used in Ireland must meet the requirements for IRDs (All IRDs shall be able to receive and decode MPEG4 AVC (H.264) based SDTV and HDTV services, MHEG5 data services, and DVB subtitling services.)
Specification are based on the NorDig Unified receiver specifications Basic Profile at its HD Level (www.nordig.org) and the MHEG-5 version 1.06.
Any Replies or Links will greatly be appreciated..
Kind Regards, Thanks.
