Cannot get MP to do default graph (1 Viewer)

When I play some file types in MP it does not use the same graph as reported by graphedit. Specifically I have FFDshow set to do raw video 'all supported', and in all other media players, and in graph edit it always gets inserted, but only sometimes in MP. When the file has h264 in it and as I use CoreAVCPro to decode (ffdshow codec is disabled) then if the type is mkv then ffdshow is added after coreavc in raw mode, but if the type is m4v then it just uses coreavc and does not insert ffdshow raw. The test file I am using is the same streams just muxed into m4v or mkv.

I have seen a few other posts like this but without resolution, hope you can help.
