    MPEG2 Video Codec: trying Cyberlink video/SP BD-HD Decoder (PDVD7.x)

using graphedit, shows that every DVD decoding is done by MPV Decoder , the Cyberlink is drawed in the graph, but does nothing.

I cannot use MPV, because it gives nasty vertical disortion. , like aliasing.

    Thanks.

    "trying Cyberlink video/SP BD-HD Decoder (PDVD7.x)"

As the name says it's a BluRay / HD DVD codec. It wont be ever able to decode mpeg2 content, that's why it's not connected in the graph in the first place. Please try the Cyberlink video Decoder (PDVD7).

Ok, my bad, I assumed the HD version should do it as well.
    Anyway:
    my problem remains.
even I verify that "Cyberlink video decoder" is in use, i get vertical "aliasing" effect ! - very strange.
the strange thing is, that when playing the same DVD on the same computer using PowerDVD, the video is perfect.

any ideas what my cause this ? - it seems to happen to both cyberlink's and MPV codec, and it *never* happends in videos, series, and other stuff I play from server or TV, only on some DVD's.

I have disabled "per pixel resizing" can it be some sort of resizing going on ?

    Al_Capone,

Did you select the Cyberlink codecs under the 'DVD' section of Mediaportal Configuration? It's different from My Videos (Movies) and Television. This is what MP uses when playing back a DVD. Also I found issues with selecting different 'navigator's in this section.. it may be why you're having problems playing back DVDs under MP while they're fine under powerdvd.

    Cheers

Can you play the dvd in an application outside of media portal on the same PC?

If you can, then it's surely just s configuration setting we need to get right.

    Hi Al_Capone

Are you using PowerDVD Ultra 7.3 patch 3516, as I think there were issues with MediaPortal and this patch (I don't know the reason why it didn't work, and it may now be fixed).

This may not be the case but something to consider.
