Can't figure out remote control (1 Viewer)

So, i come to discover MediaPortal and all of its nice features. But i'm having serious problems setting up my remote controller. The case uses iMON VDF display and ir reciver. The boxed remote works, but not exactly flawless. If i use the arrows, i only move the mouse pointer, not scrolling one-by-one option.

I figured the easiest way were to duplicate MS MCE remote to my Logitech, but i can't figure out how to do that without one. I've been looking around in the Logitech software on how to set it up, but i ain't getting smarter. I choose my components, and the TV and reciver is obvious, but for my HTPC, should i select it's model, mediaportal or something else. Dunno if there's a iMON standard in there or whatever, but i've tried 3R System HT-1000 configurations, and also tried to duplicate the boxed remote, but nothing, not even the useless mousemoves with the arrows.

I have absolutely no idea how to even get started here, and it's pretty frustrating. All help would be useful. Sorry if my english doesn't make any sense...

Still doesn't work. I followed the instructions, and the progress went well, but still no response from my remote. I'm curious about the Logitech software settings. Do I even have to setup my HTPC there, or should IR Server Suite do the trick?

Argh, there should be a simple old school way to read the output values of my remote, and map them to the desired value trigger in MediaPortal, using a XML or so....

I read all this stuff when trying to get my remote to work (speedlink 6399) and none of it worked. I then went into keys and sounds. picked the value I wanted to assign to my remote button highlighted the key, and pressed the remote button. that worked with mine. it might help you.

Well, i quite not get that, but i assume you're talking about a software which communicate with your remote.

I'll try to start over here and do a brainstorm to get things clear.

- First, I need to make sure that my Logitech remote can communicate with my iMon VDF Display/IR Reciver. I don't even know if the IR reciver is universal or has its own language based on the iMon crap. I would prefer a driver which allows my remote to communicate with the HTPC, and then i could use a application to read the values my remote sends out. I tried to add several components as my htpc, both 3R System HT-1000 and SoundGraph iMon VDF, but it still doesn't seem to communicate.

OK, brainstorming might work...? I just had an idea; i'll try to duplicate all the essential functions from the boxed remote tom my Logitech, and then try tom map them...

Really? Which version are you using? I only got Skin, Thumbnails and Volume Settings under General...

I've tried several things out now, and starting to understand it i think. How do I store .imo files in iMON manager? I'm using v7, but heard that v6 is recommended due to some problems regarding mouse/keybordsettings for the remote...

Well, so far it seems to be several solutions.

- Make my remote act like a MCE remote, and then use either iMON or some other remote plugin in MP Config to map the MCE buttons to MediaPortal.
- Make my remote act like the iMON remote, and then map the iMON buttons to MediaPortal.
- Some others too, but i can't remember them now...

I haven't got any of them to work flawless yet. If i try a MP receiver plugin, it doesn't seem to communicate at all. In my iMON software, i don't have the option to select MCE as my remote. Only iMON PAD (I also had Logitech Harmony 885 there, but i might have deleted it...hmm). But the closest I've been to success was to transfer one-by-one button from the iMON remote to my 885, and then test out some various MediaPortal.imo files. i got some functions to work then, but the problem then was that when i pushed a button, it seemed to be pushed several times and/or a hughe delay on the significant function.

Is there a map somewhere which shows all the shortcuts in MediaPortal (Perhaps even a configuration of them), so i maybe could map all the buttons myself in iMON? And by the way, how can i save my settings in a .imo file?

Try switching mpconfig to expert mode that should help with keys and sounds.
