The imon remote software has an option "third party program uses imon driver". I assume people have looked into whether this should be checked or unchecked for use with IRSS?

Just a thought.....

Unfortunatly it has a quite heavy load on the system. I prefer to help Aaron and CybrMage and fix IRSS.
I guess also that this great app will be part of MPII, so why not to have a out-of-the-box working solution ?

I agree with you 100% in this point, Simone.

Even if i got a working solution with MyKeys with still few glitches.

    Hi,

Just wondering why you guys are using IRSS? I have an iMon remote and I'm just using its own software and it works fine with MP. I just use keymaps in the iMon software to set it up for MP. Am I missing something with the IRSS?

    Cheers,
    Colin

My interest in using IRSS is that cybrdisplay will not work properly with the IMON software. The IMON software is fine if you don't want any display information from MediaPortal. When cybrdisplay runs, (at least on my system and several other posters) it kills the remote, and the current workaround is to minimise MediaPortal, start IMON frontview and stop it again. This gets the remote and the display working again together. cybrmage spent a lot of time trying to solve this problem, and eventually decided the best course of action was to develop an IMON remote driver and include it in IRSS.

Soundgraph also change the behaviour with different releases in unpredictable ways. With the V6 drivers, my system works as described above, with the V7 drivers (and cybrdisplay enabled) I can't get the remote to work properly at all. It is crap software that needs to be avoided. The hardware / firmware is also flaky because any Direct X access to the device cause it to intermittently reset.

FYI, I persevered with Soundgraph's iMedian / iCaster rubbish for a while until I discovered MediaPortal a few years ago.

My biggest disappointment was when my Silverstone case arrived and I found it was using iMON. They don't publish that info on the Silverstone site for perhaps the obvious reasons. My next HTPC case will NOT use iMON.

But you can easily get display information using iMon and MP by using the external display plugin that is included with MP. I have this setup at the moment. I'm only using the iMon driver and do not have the other software installed that comes with it. I do agree that the iMedian software that ships with iMon remote is horrible. MP is far far better.

So it sounds like the only advantage with IRSS is that at least it will work "out of the box" with MP? With no user configuratrion? That would be handy.

I could not get the external display plugin to work with my system, probably for the same sorts of reasons I can't get cybrdisplay working. cybrdisplay is the replacement for the external display plugin, which, as I understand it, uses much of the original plugin code anyway, with lots of enhancements from cybrmage.

I think there are certain firmware / hardware levels that are just problem children. I have seen many people post that they have got their iMON display working, but for myself and several other people, problems persist.
