can't get tv-server set up (1 Viewer)

TV-Server Version: 1.0.0.0RC1
MediaPortal Version: 1.0.0.0RC1
Windows Version: Windows XP SP3 w/ MCE 2005
1. TV Card: Hauppage WinTV PVR PCI II (26xxx)

not sure what is going wrong here. I install MP w/ tv-server and everything installs correctly (i've tried installing with both MSSQL and mySQL, neither fixes the problem). After install i go to set up tv-server, brings up the setup database connection screen, fill in username/password and test, get a connection ok dialogue. so i hit save, which closes the screen, but then pops up a dialogue box saying "The TV service is not running/ start it now?" and i click yes. at which point i get a microsoft error report dialogue box asking me to send an error report.

Is there something i should be doing to avoid this? any ideas? i had the old tv engine running fine, but uninstalled everything to try the tv server. what is going on?

Had the same problem and was happy to see I wasn't alone!

In my case uninstalling the K-Lite Mega Codec pack sorted it. Now I just need to pick with codecs I really need and install them individually (as I probably should have been doing all along)
