Can't play 1080p videos in mkv format... following MP 1.4 upgrade (1 Viewer)

Hi all,

Hoping someone can help me with this. After upgrading to MP version 1.4 (actually doing a clean install) I can no longer play some of my videos. When I start the videos in question... they just show a black screen and nothing happens.

Seems to be that the common denominator for the "problem videos" are my 1080p movies in mkv format. I tested several SD videos in mkv... play fine. I tested a 1080p video in m4v format... plays fine.

My system specs in my profile are up to date. Headline is that I use win 7 64 bit, latest LAV filters (0.58), and MediaPortal Audio Renderer. Have never had an issue with these movies before.

Replicated issue trying to run one of my kid's movies (Beauty and the Beast) in the attached logs. Would really appreciate any guidance. This effects approx 1/3 of my movie collection.

Thanks,
SigPi007

    Hello again

    This is a bit strange:
    [2013-07-07 16:50:47,601] [Log ] [MPMain ] [INFO ] - MediaInfoWrapper.MediaInfoWrapper: FrameRate : 23.943

Is it meant to be 23.976 fps or 24 fps?

    mm

Not sure if that is related or not. I do not have dynamic refresh rate enabled. Is there is setting I need to check out other than DRR?

I think the significance is more that the version of MediaInfo used in MP 1.4 is possibly not getting the correct info for these files.
Perhaps try an older version of MediaInfo. Simply replace the DLL in the MP install folder with one of the DLLs from here:
    http://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo/Download/Windows

You want the DLL without installer, ie. :
    http://mediaarea.net/download/binar...o_DLL_0.7.64_Windows_i386_WithoutInstaller.7z

For older version, tweak the version number like so:
    http://mediaarea.net/download/binar...o_DLL_0.7.63_Windows_i386_WithoutInstaller.7z

You'll need to stop MP before replacing the DLL.

Hold everything... I figured out the issue. Thanks for the help mm... your point about the refresh rate got me digging through the MPAR documentation since it messes with the refresh rate to sync up video and audio. While I was on the wiki page for the MPAR settings, I saw that I had some boxes check in the LAV Audio decoder that cause issue with MPAR. I'm pasting the excerpt from the documentation that points this out. Once unchecked, my 1080p MKV videos played fine.

(Note... I had just about everything in red boxes checked. Apparently a big no-no.)

    MPAR & (LAV) Audio Decoder

When you use the LAV Audio Decoder in combination with the MediaPortal Audio Renderer, make sure you keep ALL bitstreaming Formats and the Auto A/V Sync correction option UNchecked (because these settings break the functionality of the MediaPortal Audio Renderer).
