Hi,

After I installed v1.0 (going from RC2) I can't seem to get .mov files (from my Pentax optio W10 camera) to play in MePo. When I try to play a .mov file in MePo the program just freezes for a second (no visual change) and then I am able to move up/down to another file. I am usig the latest K-Lite Mega codec pack (4.4.2) and the files play fine in media player classic, a graphedit screenshot is attached. I have tried to check "Automatic Decoder Settings" in the video player options but there is no diference.

Any thougths?

Have you installed Haali Media Splitter? Try that first, it could be that the QT parser is not splitting the video and audio streams. What settings have you configured for the ffdshow output? YUY2, RGB32, etc.

Haali Media Splitter is installed. I have all output colorspaces except "I420/IYUV" and "NV12" enabled.

What is the difference between how MP is creating a graph and how MS Media Player (classic) does it?

Quicktime lite, should be enough, but haali media splitter is always recommended to be installed on any system because it is needed for a wide variety of formats, but you most probably already have this.

QuickTime lite (=QuickTime alternative without MPC) no longer includes .mov DirectShow filters that can be used by any DirectShow based mediaplayer, it only works with MPC or ZoomPlayer in newer versions.

    QuickTime Alternative
"Media Player Classic and ZoomPlayer are capable of playing QuickTime files by using the QuickTime framework that gets installed by QuickTime Alternative. Other players require DirectShow filters to be able to play QuickTime files.

If you want to play QuickTime files in Windows Media Player or another DirectShow based player, then it is recommended to install the K-Lite Codec Pack. That contains all the DirectShow filters that are required to play QuickTime files."

So "K-Lite Codec pack" is supposed to enable any DirectShow based player to play .mov content but I it does not work in MePo for me. I can play .mov in MPC though using the K-Lite DS filters, hard to tell why MePo can't build a graph with them. Is there any way to troubleshoot MePo:s filter graph building?

The following two shareware / free for non commersial use packages are supposed to enable .mov playback in any DS based player:
    "Quick Time Source Directshow Filter"
    "MediaLooks QuickTime DirectShow Source"

I have had no success with either of them in MePo however (or else for that matter). I have not had so much time to fiddle around with them though so perhaps there is some conflict with K-Lite or a reboot etc would do the trick. Please go ahead and google them, try for yourself and report back how it went if you have the time.

There seems to be a current lack of support for free DirectShow filters that handles .mov. !?

Can anybody out there play .mov with MePo v1.0? If so which codecs are in use?

I am pretty sure the K-Lite version I used for MePo RC2 also had QT Lite removed (due to the removed DS filters) and thus solved it some other way (the way my attached filter graph shows) and MePo RC2 could produce correct output with that. My current guess is that something has changed between RC2 and v1.0 which breaks that functionality (please prove me wrong by specifying a working quicktime codec for v1.0 ;-)

Paranoid Delusion: Can haali really split the .mov container? In the configuration for K-Lite the only choice available as .mov splitter is "Gabest" (which I can not even find in my filters, what is "gabest"?). Is there some way to configure haali media splitter to handle the .mov container? I do not really know what the K_Lite configuration utility really does, if it only changes merits? How do one set .mov files to be handled by haali?

Lots of questions, I hope someone out there has some answers too.

Finally got it working by finding an old quicktime alternative (google for "quicktimealt145.exe") that has directshow filters included and configuring MePo to use "automatic decoder settings" in "video player" config page.

    Please snälla hobb!

I have had exactly the same problem as you. However, installing the old quicktime alt. didn't help me. Could you please upload a graphedit dump of the codecs that MP uses when it plays your camera mov files!

Have you enabled "automatic decoder settings" in the video setup? It could be that your camera use some newer codec that the old quick time 1.45 can not handle. My setup is a clean install with only the latest K-Lite mega codec pack + 1.45 qt alt installed.

I am not able to connect to the remote graph with my current setup when I play mov files so I can not give you a graph, sorry!
