The problem was access rights if I open media portal as administrator recording and timeshift works fine. So I tried reinstalling as admin that didn't work if I tried to run as normal user but that's ok I can tick the run as admin option in properties, disable uac so I don't get popups and it's all good. And also to mention my normal vista account is an admin account and vista is a clean install so I don't know why noone else is having this issue?</blockquote>
