Can't restart MP (1 Viewer)

When I try to restart MP with the shutdown options it won't restart. Instead I see Mediaportal.exe process in the Task Manager. I can't kill it and have to restart the whole machine.
It used to work with the setting "restart MP on resume", which is gone now, unfortunately

Any ideas?
